Jeanie is founder and owner of The Management Edge, a firm providing mediation, strategic planning and performance improvement services to area enterprises.
She learned her conservative values on a family farm at Perryville, Missouri, earned her undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and her Master's in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.
Moving to Blue Springs in 1984, she has promoted balanced growth and quality of
life. Before being elected she was appointed to city commissions and worked on
grassroots-driven strategic plans; Co-Chair of Renew the Blue –key areas were
renewed focus on economic development, education, communication with government,
and green initiatives. She served as co-chair of the city's Tax-Increment
Financing Commission (TIF), was a member of the Planning Commission, Historic
Preservation Commission and the Traffic Commission.
Jeanie won her 1st District City Council seat in 2008, after being named Blue
Springs Citizen of the Year and Outstanding Civic Leader, both in 2007. Since
elected she has been Chair of the Blue Springs FIT (Families in Training, health
and wellness group), served as committee member on National Night Out against
Crime with the Police Department, currently chairs task forces for the City on
developing Guiding Principles and Sign Ordinance Review. She serves as council
liason for the Solid Waste Commission and Art Commission. A graduate of the Citizen's Police Academy,
Jeanie helps the Police promote crime prevention, and worked with Police and Jackson County Builders
in addressing construction crimes.
She also has worked with the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District
to educate the public on fire prevention and safety.
She attends Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs and serves on the Personnel Committee, is the 1st Vice President and has served on numerous positions over the last 25 years.
Jeanie is the mother of a son, Chris (20) who is a student at Metropolitan
Community College. He is an Eagle
Scout and has been involved in Air Force ROTC and the Explorer group with the
Police Department.
